Photographer Horst Dockal, born in 1964 in Vienna, lives and works in his native city, which plays as European culturel centre a central role in his works. After completing his studies at the „Höhere Graphische Lehr-und Versuchsanstalt“ in Vienna he started his career as assistant of well-known advertising photographers. Since 2004 he is self-employed photographer and works on different themes, which include portraits of European metropolises from Barcelona to Istanbul. Horst Dockal is especially interested in the hidden remains of nearly sunken ages. His works show conserved impressions in a formal clear picture language, expressed in the colour composition as well as in the mastery of contrasts in monochrome works. Photos in the Natural Historical Museum in Vienna serve as examples.
